As one travels the length of the River Derwent today, from tranquil rural villages near its source at Gibraltar Rock to the busy residential and commercial activities nearer its confluence with the Tyne, it is easy to forget that the woodlands and river were once the fuel and energy that powered the early industry.
The landscape we have today; shaped by the past; provides numerous opportunities for leisure, recreation and exploration. With rivers and woodlands walks thriving with wildlife to walk in; relaxed or challenging cycle and running routes and a road system that allows relaxed cruising there are options for everyone.
Our site is currently under construction we look forward to welcoming back in the future when we will have more details available.
